PROJECT VISTA

CLIENT: MITSUBISHI ESTATE LONDON & CO:RE

STATUS: COMPLETE

LOCATION: SOUTH BANK

Appointed to deliver an integrated scope of works on the former ITV Studios on London’s South Bank, including large-scale asbestos removal works to the tower, podium levels and studios, all to be completed prior to main demolition works.

PROJECT OVERVIEW.

The scope comprised two elements; the first was to complete a full Demolition Survey of the buildings, which was completed by a UKAS Accredited Surveying with the support of our in-house team of experts. The second was to remove all identified asbestos-containing materials, including the insulation board, associated debris and thermal insulation, to multiple locations.

KEY ACHIEVEMENTS.

Collaborating with Contractors
Time was key for the client, so we collaborated with the ongoing contractors to optimise and synchronise our programmes. We devised concurrent sequencing with other contractors to ensure we delivered programme betterment.

Working with Neighbours in Mind
Community management was an issue due to the proximity of local residents and the area’s high foot traffic due to the proximity of the Southbank Centre, The National Theatre, and Waterloo Station.

Meticulous Planning
Multiple enclosures were set up to ensure safe and controlled removal of asbestos containing material, adhering to strict safety and regulatory requirements. They achieved this through setting up multiple enclosures, to all areas including the 23-storey tower, podium and three studios.

Bespoke Scaffolding Solution
We worked with our approved scaffolding contractor to design bespoke scaffold working areas to the three main studios where insulation board and associated debris had been identified throughout.
