Senior Projects Co-Ordinator
Tell us a little about you.
I’m originally from Cork, Ireland and decided to move to London in 2011 when job vacancies in Ireland was at an all time low, I was completing short term temp work and wanted a change and a more stable career.
How did you get into construction?
I started my career with McGee in 2016 with no previous background in Construction. My background was in the Beauty Industry where I trained and worked for 10 years. I was very nervous to join the industry as it was completely new to me, and I didn’t really know what to expect. I started with the company as a Site Administrator and five and a half years later I have progressed to Senior Project Co-Ordinator on one of our key projects with a wealth of knowledge, training, and experience along with it.
What’s next?
I’m currently completing a Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship with the view to working towards becoming a Project Manager one day.
What’s it like starting out in construction?
It hasn’t always been easy as some days I felt completely out of my depth, being asked to complete work that I didn’t have prior knowledge of, but my site team were such amazing people and had the patience and kindness to train me and teach me everything I needed to know. The company put me on training courses to further my knowledge of the field and my career.
Why McGee?
McGee is willing to further educate and train their employees to help them to progress their careers and to help figure out where they want to go within the company.
