McGee, a specialist engineering contractor delivering high profile, complex engineering projects, is pleased to announce it has been awarded the Geotechnical Engineering Award at the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) Annual Awards, for its work at Claridge’s Hotel, London.
McGee were appointed as the ‘Design and Build’ principal contractor for the complex top-down excavation and construction of a five-storey basement beneath the hotel’s 1920s Art Deco wing. The project is widely considered one of the most intricate, innovative, and unique, ground engineering projects in London.
The CTBUH Awards program honors projects and individuals that have made extraordinary contributions to the advancement of tall buildings and the urban environment, and that achieve sustainability at the highest and broadest level. The Awards aspire to provide a more comprehensive and sophisticated view of these important structures, while advocating for improvements in every aspect of performance, including those that have the greatest positive impact on the individuals who use these buildings and the cities they inhabit.
