McGee, a specialist engineering contractor, announces a senior leadership restructure to enhance operational efficiency and drive the company’s continued growth.
As part of this restructuring, McGee has appointed Richard Wilkinson to the newly created position of Operations Director with accountability for delivery of its core activities from Demolition through to Structures, a move that further reinforces its integrated offering.
Richard brings a wealth of experience and expertise to McGee, having worked in the industry for over 30 years. He has an extensive background in delivering major infrastructure projects, most recently at Hinkley Power Station as operations lead for Laing O’Rourke’s, Expanded Structures. His knowledge and experience in leading integrated activities, will be invaluable in ensuring alignment in our operational approach in delivering the company’s most recent project wins.
Commenting on his appointment, Richard Wilkinson said, “I am thrilled to join McGee during such an exciting period of growth. The company has an outstanding reputation in the industry for delivering high-quality engineering solutions on some of London’s most complex projects. I’m excited to lead the team in delivering these.”
Seb Fossey, Managing Director added, “We are delighted to welcome Richard to the board of directors. His wealth of experience gained working on major infrastructure projects, as well as his focus on operational excellence and people-first approach, means he is well-placed to spearhead our core activity offering.
This new leadership structure underpins the delivery of our operating model, further strengthening our position in the market, while delivering on our commitments to clients.”
In addition to Richard’s appointment, Bevan White will continue as Finance Director but will now do so as a board director. Vivienne Inmonger will take over the role of Company Secretary and will hold the role of General Counsel for the Group, joining the senior management team.
Three further appointments are made to its senior management team to better align its service offering and people strategy. Wendy Myddleton has been promoted to People Director and will oversee every aspect of McGee’s employee-owners.
Wendy Myddleton comments: “We use our own directly employed and highly trained team to deliver our projects. As such, we have a huge amount of talent in our business who support, coach, and mentor one another and we need to ensure this is at the forefront of how we work and deliver. As we grow the business, addressing issues like the skills gap and looking at ways for apprentices and more graduates to join will be key. All while keeping sight of our dedicated employees who have grown with the brand and continue to help us outperform.”
James Simpson is promoted to Construction Engineering Director, an appointment that recognises the importance the business places on technical solutions. James will continue to oversee the company’s digital engineering and temporary works teams to enhance collaboration, creativity and knowledge sharing on every project.
Michael O’Brien is promoted to Support Services Director. Having been with the business for nearly 18 years, Michael has the experience, know-how and market awareness needed to meet current and future demands. Michael will take overall responsibility for the business’ Recycling, Temporary Services, Plant and Haulage operations allowing it to deliver on its priorities and commitment to customers.
Seb Fossey concludes, “An extra strong foundation has been put in place on which the company can plan for forecast growth and expansion. These promotions are as a result of their continued commitment and invaluable expertise that are perfectly aligned to our specialist engineering model and delivering on our strategy.”
