SENSITIVE DECONSTRUCTION
CLIENT: CASTLE FORGE
STATUS: COMPLETE
LOCATION: CITY OF LONDON
An exciting refurbishment that retains 96% of the existing building structure to provide a contemporary, best-in-class workspace in the City of London.
At the Golden Lane site, our pioneering work retained half of the original 1890s building while deconstruction activities were completed alongside. The refabrication process involved ribbon cutting existing beams to enhance their stiffness, a technique never before employed on reused steel sections.
Innovative Refabrication
The approach involves precise deconstruction, de-fabrication, recertification, and refabrication of steelwork sections, marking the first instance of such a process in the UK. This innovative method sets a new standard for sustainable construction practices.
Collaborative Efforts
Working in conjunction with the design team, structural engineers and the client, we ensure the feasibility and effectiveness of steelwork reuse in reducing carbon footprints. This collaborative approach fosters trust and promotes sustainable solutions within the construction industry.
Complex Demolition Works
In addition to steelwork reuse, we undertook structural demolition of existing RC slabs, the roof, and the façade of the building, showcasing our expertise in handling complex demolition projects while prioritising sustainability.
Building on Past Success
Leveraging our experience from similar projects at listed sites across London, including Admiralty Arch and Claridge’s Hotel, we demonstrated our capability to deliver innovative solutions for heritage conservation and sustainable development.
