SOUTH
MOLTON.

THE WEST END’S LARGEST MIXED-USED DEVELOPMENT PROJECT WITH SUSTAINABILITY AND COMMUNITY AT ITS HEART.

CLIENT: GROSVENOR ESTATES

STATUS: IN-PROGRESS

LOCATION: MAYFAIR

South Molton will be a groundbreaking example of how our cities’ most historic parts can evolve to meet modern society’s needs, embracing change whilst respecting legacy and authenticity.

PROJECT OVERVIEW.

Once complete, ‘the joint venture scheme’ will create almost 1,000 additional jobs in the West End, deliver 11 new affordable homes on site, and create new community spaces, public realms, public art, and play spaces.

Our scope focused on 24,800m2 of the joint venture. After the success of the initial soft strip and environmental services, our works expanded to include facade retention, underpinning, demolition, piling, build excavation, and reinforced concrete works to the new basement and core.

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS AND KEY STATS.

KEY ACHIEVEMENTS.

Innovative Solutions
Our commitment to sustainability and technical excellence drove groundbreaking innovations, particularly in facade retention. We pioneered circular steel initiatives, resulting in a facade retention scheme that is stiffer, less complex, and more reusable than conventional methods.

Air-arcing techniques enabled the creation of distinctive circular frames, reducing the need for welded angles and maximising structural integrity. Vertical cantilevers fabricated from reused steel members also minimised spatial impact while maintaining aesthetic appeal.

Community Engagement
Our dedicated community team facilitated early engagement with stakeholders. We leveraged our extensive in-house capabilities, including technical expertise and collaborative partnerships, to ensure successful project delivery amidst challenging urban constraints.

Sustainable Impact
Our circular steel innovations have improved project efficiency and offered multifaceted carbon opportunities. By incorporating salvaged steel into the facade retention system, we’re setting a precedent for sustainable construction practices, with materials poised for reuse in future projects.

MCGEE DEMONSTRATED AN UNPARALLELED UNDERSTANDING OF OUR VISION, COUPLED WITH THE TECHNICAL AND OPERATIONAL COMPETENCIES TO DELIVER IT. THEIR COMMITMENT AND EXPERIENCE IN PRESERVING HISTORIC BUILDING FAÇADES WHILE DEVELOPING INNOVATIVE CARBON SOLUTIONS PERFECTLY ALIGNED WITH OUR COMMITMENTS.
